Manfred Heine-Baux, M.F.A., Ph.D.
Manfred was born in Munich. From 1959 to 1966 he studied psychology, art
history, painting, lithography and etching at the Academy of Fine Arts in
Munich, where he taught after receiving his degree of Master of Fine Arts in
1964, ( PhD in Art History ).
M. Heine-Baux lived and worked in Germany, South Africa, France and the United
States, and has established his studio in Canada where in 1984, he settled with
his family. He has traveled and painted throughout France, Italy, Portugal, East
Africa, Hawaii, the Caribbean, South America, Thailand, Tahiti, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, India, Nepal, U.S.A. and Canada. The impressions left with him by
these travels have had a tremendous impact on his work, as have his years of
living in both his beloved Provence and in North America.
In his unique bold expressionistic style, he creates compositions built on the
essential. The vibrant contrast of colours tends to eliminate the details and
simplify the shapes. Swirling brush strokes compete with precise and delicate
touches creating a rhythm which animates the painting. In Heine-Baux's work we
find both power and dynamics.
European and American art critics have described his art as
a visual experience, which becomes a "harmonized fireworks display". The
atmosphere of his exotic markets is as convincing and colourfully depicted as
the atmosphere in his brilliant French landscapes or the radiance of the
personalities in his portraits.
The key element, evident in M Heine-Baux's work is his ability to communicate
his enthusiasm for life and beauty, through his choice of colours.
His work can be found in private, public and corporate collections in Canada,
Europe, U.S.A. and Japan.
